It is possible to use the controller of the SW4H system together with the Hydraulic Unit after making a simple adaptation of the existing system consisting in supplying tap water to the Hydraulic Unit and running an additional water pipe to the rainwater tank for draining water after rinsing the filters from the Hydraulic Unit.

An average property occupies 600 m², of which 300 m² is green area/garden, and the remaining 300 m² is roof + impervious surface (paving stones) from which rainwater can be collected. The average daily demand of the garden (lawn, flowerbeds) is 10 l of water/ m²/ day for 120 days of the growing season. The total water demand is 10 l x 300 m² x 120 days = 360,000 l of water/year i.e. 360 m³. The average annual precipitation in Poland is about 600 l/ m²/ year which is only 180 m³/ year. Therefore, the precipitation should be supplemented by watering – on average min. 180 m³/year. In the case of watering with tap water, at an average price of 10 PLN/ m³ of tap water (+ municipal sewage disposal costs), this gives costs of almost 2000 PLN per year. These costs can be avoided by using stored rainwater for watering

You should also take into account the time for the groundwork and installation of the irrigation system itself, the foundation of the rainwater tank along with the rainwater supply system, the overflow system and the water supply to the hydraulic unit of the SW4H system.

SmartWater4Home is an irrigation system dedicated to using water from rainwater tanks. The system is a comprehensive solution that works in a fully automated manner, easy to program and manage, with minimal need for manual operation. The system uses rainwater from the tank economically. Rainwater, however, contains mechanical and biological impurities, so it must be filtered. In the event of a shortage of water in the tank, the system replenishes the water using tap water. In doing so, it performs flushing of the rainwater filter.

The system allows you to configure watering zones (depending, for example, on the shading of a particular spot or the individual needs of the plants). Smart Water measures soil moisture and tracks weather forecasts. As a result, the system optimizes water consumption, using less water than with manual watering. With manual watering, we have no control over soil moisture, no control over the amount of water used. The automatic system is more precise and, most importantly, saves time wasted on watering. Of course, the use of an automatic system does not exclude manual watering of separate areas, which in this case can be excluded from the SW4H system by simply deactivating the loop watering the area in question

A low level of rainwater in the tank – below the set minimum will interrupt watering. However, in this case, automatic replenishment of water in the tank with the set amount of tap water will work. At the same time, automatic flushing of the water filter is performed. The replenishment of water in the tank will enable the execution of the next watering cycle. This situation will be repeated until rainfall does not fill the tank above the minimum level

Any irrigation system, including SW4H must be prepared for winter. The system should be emptied of water, for example [by blowing with compressed air] and disconnected from the power supply.These actions should be performed before the onset of sub-zero temperatures. Freezing water can permanently damage system components – such as solenoid valves.

No, SmartWater4Home is an irrigation system dedicated to using water from a rainwater tank. Instead, the water from the well is ideal for replenishing the water in the tank with an additional pump.

The controller itself is installed with simple assembly tools – wrenches and screwdrivers, pliers for stripping insulation. However, to make the entire irrigation system : piping, valve boxes, watering nozzles, you will need a shovel or rent a mini excavator. These elements are simply buried in the ground – at a depth of 20 – 30 cm. The foundation of a rainwater tank with a capacity of at least 2 m six requires the use of an excavator and even a concrete mixer to fill the tank with sand and cement.

Smart Water 4 Home works with all commercially available rainwater tanks – concrete and plastic.

The filter is an accessory for the hydraulic unit, there is no need to buy it separately.
